Foreign Aid Needs To Go

Today, one-forth of America's national debt is traceable to foreign aid, yet we continue to dig deeper into debt to fund "friends", three-quarters of whom usually vote against the U.S. in the U.N. America needs a policy that phases out foreign aid and focuses instead on forgotten Americans here at home. We have millions of homeless here, and tons of other problems, medicare and social security, that we can be fix if we use that money on domestic problems. The time has come for nations to quit presuming upon American benevolence and begin paying the full cost of their own development and defense.

Amen to that.....all the nations in the UN should contribute equal percentages of their countries moneys and then give the money to the countries that need it.
I have a feeling that all the countries GNP would mysteriously go down.

I think we should help as longest we are being taking care of first. Anything done in excess has been known to cause problems. I think the US is smart and there must be a reason why they do what they do.

I agree that the aid we give to overseas needs to stop. We need to take care of our people here in America! I'm sure the problems might always be around but aleast we can reduce them so it is not as out of control. I'm personally tired of my taxes being taken out of the paycheck and not knowing where it is going and who is benefitting.

Though I think overseas should be curbed, it can not be stopped all together. If we don't give, we don't get. We import and export to many of these countries. If we stop allforeign aid, do you think they would be willing to trade with us? What would stop them from declaring war on the American home front? I do agree that all countires in the UN should contribute equally. Seems we are footing the bill for all.

Trade and Aid are 2 different things.

I agree that trade and aid are two different things but, if we don't aid and others do, how long do you think they would trade with us? I don't agree that we should be "aiding" other countries as much as we do, but we would have to think of the consequences shoudl we decide not to aid at all?
